"Beloved teachers, be fools for Christ, and keep to the gospel. Don’t be afraid: it has life in it, and it will grow: only you bring it out, and let it grow.”
Colin is sharing a classic example of why we should preach the Gospel. I, personally, don't understand why a preacher would preach anything else. Anything else is NOT preaching.

I completely agree. God has revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ and walked on this world and that has been recorded for us. As we read about the eyewitnesses to Jesus' acts, we gain an understanding (albeit, a limited understanding) of who God is and what God is like.
Additionally, when we have the rest of Scripture detailing God's work before and after Jesus came, and the impact that has on humanity, this too gives us glimpses of God. I truly wonder why a preacher or teacher would want to teach about anything else. In fact, I wonder why anyone would want to talk about anything else.
In addition to that, it is a universal message (as you know more than most). When a person is focused on the Gospel alone, that will change people in rural Kansas, New York City, Bangladesh, London, Kenya, Norway, anywhere.
I saw a post recently that emphasised this by showing how so many "preachers" today preach an American-ized, Western version of Christianity. Look at the picture found at this link and it will emphasize what I am talking about.
